Murray State vs. Centenary - L, 3-11 (5 innings)
The Racers fell in their third game of the Ole Miss Classic to Centenary, 11-3 in five innings. MSU was led by freshman Kaitlyn England. The Springfield, Ill., native garnered the programs first home run in the third inning. The first-baseman tallied two hits and two RBIs for the Racers.
Freshman Starr Gilley and Kristen Broadway saw most of the action in the circle for MSU, recording three strike-outs each. Sophomore Chelsey Sullivan also saw action in the circle, starting the game for the Racers.
In the opening inning, the Ladies came out swinging and put two runs on the board before the Racers got a chance to bat. MSU cut the lead to one in the bottom of the first, when junior Lauren Buch got the Racers going with a triple to left field. Junior Jenna Bradley was the next batter for MSU and sent Buch home with a single to left field.
Centenary followed with a five-run second inning to take a 7-1 advantage until the Racers got two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Bradley reached and advanced to second on two errors by the Ladies and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. England then came to the plate and hit her first home run to left field and cut the deficit to 7-3.
However, that was all the scoring that the Racers could produce and Centenary followed with a four-run fourth inning to take the needed eight-run lead heading into the fifth inning. Both teams them went scoreless in the fifth to end the game.
Murray State vs. SIU Edwardsville
Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Cougars scored the only two runs of the game. The Cougars singled twice before the Racers got the second out of the inning. However SIUE then got a double from Whitney Davis that drove in two runs.
The Racers struggled to get their offense started, going down 1-2-3 in their first five innings at the plate and recording no hits in the game. Freshman Shelby Kosmecki garnered MSU's first complete game in the circle. The Somerset, Ky., native tallied five strike-outs and three walks in six innings of work.

"Every game we are going to have a first for our program, but we are still working toward that first win."
"We looked and competed a lot better in our last game against SIU Edwardsville."
" Shelby Kosmecki threw a good game for us and she was able to correct the things that we talked to her about after her last outing. She still has room for improvement, but I am proud of how she responded and excited about the potential she has to improve."
