Final NCAA Results
MSU freshman Emily Quiner posted a fourth-place showing in qualifying for the air rifle with a 593 score (out of a possible 600) and advanced to the finals where she shot another 593 to finish fourth.
"Today was a glimpse of the future," MSU coach Alan Lollar said. "To come onto this national stage and finish third, ahead of some of the best air rifle shooters in the country, I think shows the character and toughness we have to have in order to come back as a team and challenge for the top spot."
"Emily did a great job today," Lollar said. "Making the final and finishing fourth is a great accomplishment for her."
Senior Kasey Meyer finished with a strong 587 on Saturday and MSU's Daniel Sojka had a 580, while Caroline Barber shot a 579.
"Kasey finished strong and can be very proud of being a major part of starting this program on the path back," Lollar added. "Caroline, Daniel and Ashley matured a lot this weekend. They will know what to expect when we come back."
During the awards banquet at host Texas Christian University, Quiner was named NCAA Second Team in smallbore, while Meyer was named honorable mention.
Lollar was named National Rifle Association and Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
