The Murray State women's tennis team dropped a pair of Ohio Valley Conference road matches over the weekend as the Racers fell 5-2 at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, and 5-2 at Morehead State on Sunday.
Against EKU, the Racers jumped out to the early lead by capturing the doubles point. Angela McGahee and Lindsey Wiseman teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 1, while Ashley Canty and Alexis Webb secured the point with an 8-4 decision at No. 3.
Lyndsay Ottosen gave the Racers the 2-0 advantage as she defeated Catarina Branco, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. The Colonels seized control from that point as they won the next four matches in straight-sets to secure the victory. In the final match of the day, Canty and Alyze Pagal locked horns in a three-setter that was decided with Pagal emerging in tiebreak.
MSU returned to the courts on Sunday to take on the Eagles. The Racers picked up their only two points of the match in singles action as Webb won her match in straight sets at No. 2, while Canty came away with a three-set victory, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3.
