Women's Tennis Falls to Jacksonville State

The Murray State women's tennis team dropped a close match to Jacksonville State Thursday afternoon at the Purcell Tennis Courts.

The Racers were unable to capture the doubles point, giving the Gamecocks the 4-3 win.

Angela McGahee and Lindsey Wiseman teamed up at No. 1, but came up short with a 8-6 loss against Viviane Marani and Martina Deasbesell.

Lyndsay Ottosen and Cassidy Cunitz defeated Kimberly Ferris and Raphaela Lima, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot.

In singles action Wiseman defeated Rafaela Wenzel in two sets, 6-3, 7-5.

Ottosen brought in the second point for the Racers in a close three sets against Juliama Renesto. Ottosen lost the first set, 6-3, came back to win her second, 6-3, and won the final set, 10-7.

Ashley Canty defeated Ferris at No. 3 to give the Racers their third point.

The Racers will travel to Cookeville, Tenn. on Sat., Apr. 3rd to continue conference action against Tennessee Tech. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
