The Murray State volleyball team took third at its second spring tournament at Southern Illinois University.
The Racers suffered a loss in the first match of the day to the host Salukis (26-24, 18-25, 8-15), but then were victorious in their final three matches of the day. MSU defeated the SIU Club Team (25-15, 25-12) and Jefferson College (25-23, 25-22) in the final matches of the morning pool. The Racers were then entered into the match for third place and earned a 25-20, 25-17 win over Bradley.
"The team started out sluggish this weekend but was able to bounce back and end up playing pretty well all weekend," said head coach David Schwepker. "We still haven't been blocking the way we are training to but it is getting better. Our hitting this weekend was also not as good as it was last weekend. However, we played the kind of defense that I know this team is capable of doing and the team really did work hard!"
MSU will play in its final spring tournament at Middle Tennessee State, Saturday, April 24 as part of the MTSU Spring Classic.
