Racers Announce 2010-11 Cheer Squad

Murray State University has announced the selection of the 2010-11 Racer Cheer Team. Tryouts were held on Saturday, April 24 in the Cutchin Field House South Gym. Thirty-one prospective members competed for 12 spots on the Varsity squad which also named 4 alternates to the team.
After participating in a morning workshop, the 31 participants were placed into groups and performed before a panel of UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) judges. Participants were judged on tumbling, jumps, stunts and cheering.

Kayla DeArmond, Paducah, KY; Laura Dycus, Calvert City, KY; Lydia Grogan, Wickliffe, KY; April Freund, O'Fallon, IL; Mallory Ham, Benton, KY; Lauren Hendon, Paducah, KY; Shawnta Jones, Glasgow, KY; Sara Martinez, O'Fallon, IL; Samantha Owens, Dale, IN; Amanda Pittman, Wickliffe, KY; Sumer Starks, Almo, KY; Hana Steinke, Geneva, IL; Kailyn Swoboda, Crestwood, KY; Taylor Wallace, Marion, KY; Leah Worley, Corbin, KY; Kaytlin Young, Murray, KY.
In addition to promoting campus spirit and performing at home football and basketball games, the 2009-10 team traveled to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Basketball Tournament in Nashville, TN and also performed at the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First and Second Rounds in San Jose, California.
