Propst's Blast Gives Bred 7-5 Comeback Victory

Bryan Propst delivered a two-run home run to left field to cap off an four-run seventh inning as Murray State rallied for a 7-5 victory over Morehead State in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Reagan Field.
The Breds entered the inning trailing by two runs when Zach Noonan started the inning with a single through the right side. Brandon Elliott followed with an RBI double to left center, before scoring on Wes Cunningham's triple down the right-field line. The triple was the sixth of the season for Cunningham, tying the single-season record.
The Eagles (24-22, 6-9 OVC) got on the board in the first inning as Drew Lee hit a solo home run to right field.
The Breds (25-22, 11-5 OVC) tied the game in the second as Cory Hodskins ripped a double into the gap in left center with two outs. Kyle Tiernan followed with an RBI single to right field.
MUR took their first lead of the game in the third as Noonan singled to left field to leadoff the inning. With one out, Cunningham reached on a walk and both runners took an extra base as the ball went back to the back stop. Propst capitalized on the extra base with a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Breds added a run in the fourth as Colton Moore singled to left and was followed by a Hodskins single through the left side. Kyle Tiernan advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt and Noonan drove in Moore with a two-out single through the left side.
MOR regained the lead in the sixth as Lee doubled to right field and scored on Cameron Flynn's double to right center. Flynn came in to score on Taylor Davis' triple down the right-field line. Michael Bottoms drove in the final run of the inning with a single up the middle.
The Eagles added an unearned run in the seventh Lee singled and was safe at second on a fielding error. Flynn walked to load the bases and Davis delivered a sacrifice fly to left center.
Matt McGaha (5-1) picked up the victory in relief as he allowed one unearned run on one hit over three innings. Bottoms (4-4) took the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits over six innings.
Chris Craycraft did not factor into the decision after giving up four runs on seven hits and five strikeouts over six innings. He now becomes MUR's all-time leader in innings pitched with 268.2 innings.
Noonan led the offense with three hits, while Cunningham, Moore, Hodskins and Tiernan each collected two hits each.
The Breds and Eagles will play the second game of the doubleheader approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
