
Tech Uses Long Ball to Hand Breds Defeat in Finale

Tennessee Tech hit six home runs to hand Murray State an 11-1 defeat in the final game of the 2010 regular season Saturday afternoon at Bush Stadium.
The Golden Eagles (29-23, 14-6 OVC) got on the board in the second inning as Chad Oberacker singled up the middle and scored on Ben Burgess' two-run home run to left field.
TTU added to its lead in the third as Austin Wulf singled and A.J. Kirby-Jones hit a two-run home run to the short porch in right field. Cassanova Donaldson put another run on the board with a solo home run to right center.
The Golden Eagles continued to play long ball in the fourth as Devin Rivers hit the first pitch of the inning over the fence in left field.
TTU scored a run without a home run in the fifth as Oberacker singled to left field and went to third on Donaldson's cue shot that rolled over the bag at third. Burgess drove in Oberacker with a sacrifice fly to center.
Tate McMillan added a run on the board in the sixth with a solo home run to right field.
The Golden Eagles added three more runs in the seventh after a double and a hit batter put two on with two outs for Wulf to hit a three-run shot to right field.
The Breds (25-26-1, 12-8-1) finally got on the board in the ninth as Bryan Propst doubled to left center and later scored on Jason Laws' groundout to the right side.
Chason Choate (3-3) earned the victory after allowing just two hits and striking out three over seven innings. Alex Love (6-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing six runs on seven hits over three innings.
The Breds return to action Wednesday evening as they face Eastern Kentucky in the first round of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn.
