Cross Country Heads To Commodore Classic

The Murray State men's and women's cross country teams return to action this Saturday at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn. The men will kick off the day at 9:00 a.m. with the women's race taking place at 10:00 a.m.
The Racers opened the 2010 season two weeks ago at the SIU Early Bird. Senior Katelyn Jones was the high finisher for the women, placing in second with a time of 15:09.6. Asenath NaAman placed in eighth to lead a pack of three MSU racers placing inside the top ten with a time of 15:41.7. Karissa Magnuson and Kayla Crusham each finished within six seconds of NaAman in ninth and tenth place.
Derek Perry was the high finisher for the men's squad, running in 21:04.6 to finish 13th. Ryan Johnson finished under a minute behind Perry to come in 16th.
MSU will be competing against Belmont, Bethel, Blue Mountain, Chattanooga, Freed-Hardeman, Lipscomb, Middle Tenn. State, Rhodes, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Trevecca Nazarene, University of the South, Union, and host Vanderbilt.
The Racers' women's squad ran to a third-place finish in last year's event, while the men's team finished 14th.
