MSU Sweeps OVC Rifle Athlete Of The Month Awards

Murray State Rifle swept the Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Athlete of the Month Awards when Emily Quiner earned the OVC air rifle honor and Nehemiah Gillman was named the winner for smallbore.
“Emily continues to be a very consistent, top level shooter and Nehemiah has come back from the Christmas Break and started to get on a roll,” MSU Head Coach Alan Lollar said. “Both Emily and Nehemiah are examples of what we need at this time of the year, consistency and a spark to get going.”
Quiner, a sophomore from Brooklyn Park, Minn., had a pair of second-place air rifle showings in January while also shooting a 590 against Nebraska. She recorded a 586 against Ole Miss and followed that with a 585 on the road at Ole Miss.
Gillman, a freshman from Fort Wayne, Ind., had back-to-back first place finishes in smallbore when he had a 583 against Nebraska. He also carded a score of 577 against Ole Miss.
The Racers are at home this weekend hosting the Withrow Invitational at the Pat Spurgin Range in Roy Stewart Stadium.
MSU has won their last four matches with wins at the JSU Gamecock Invitational, Nebraska and two wins over Mississippi.
