Murray State men's and women's cross country competed in its final regular season event of the 2011 schedule Saturday afternoon, running in the Evansville Invitational held in Evansville, Ind.
Carolyne Tanui helped lead the Racers to a fourth place finish in the field of 11 teams as MSU was the highest of five OVC schools in the race, completing the 5k circuit at 18:51.59 to place 13th overall.
Anne Jablinski was the second highest MSU entry of the morning, finishing in 19:18.00 to come in 25th overall out of 111 runners.
Brittany Bohn was three places back, placing 28th with a time of 19:27.37.
Abbie Oliver finished 31st on the day, running with a time of 19:31.59.
Kayla Crusham was the fifth and final time to count towards the MSU team score of 124 points, finishing 35th in 19:40.94.
Jami Kloenne was the final MSU entry in the race, completing the course in 21:45.56.
Reid Thomas was the high finisher in the 8k men's race for Murray State, running with a time of 30:50.63. Chase Darnell completed the course in 32:04.79 with Trent Scott running in 32:53.99 and Zack Calvert in 33:56.75.
"I am very happy with how everyone raced today," head coach Jenny Severns said. "Everyone gave everything they had and that is all that you can ask for. I am pretty excited to see the women at OVCs when we put Rebecca and Anna back in the line up. We have big goals and expectations for them. The men were a little tired today but that is just how it is this time of the year. I am confident they will bounce back in two weeks."
The Racers have two weeks to prepare for the OVC Championships, held Oct. 29th in Richmond, Ky., at Arlington Golf Course.
