Baseball Announces 2012 Schedule

2012 Baseball Schedule
A pair of games against Kentucky, along with road trips to Mississippi and Southern Mississippi highlight the 2010 Murray State baseball schedule released Thursday.
“We are very excited about our non-conference schedule this season,” said head coach Rob McDonald. “We feel like the competition we are playing is going to prepare us for the difficult Ohio Valley Conference season.”
Fans will have plenty of opportunity to see the Breds at the beginning of the season as eight of the first nine games are at Johnny Reagan Field. MSU opens the season with a three-game series against Valparaiso (Feb. 17-19), before hosting Mid-Continent in a midweek contest. The Breds head to Arkansas State the following day, before returning home to face South Dakota State (Feb. 24-26) and Western Kentucky (Feb. 28).
The Breds will spend the first part of March on the road as they travel for a series at Central Arkansas (March 2-4) and a midweek game at Belmont (March 7). After a three-game home series against Purdue (March 9-11), the Breds hit a difficult road stretch as they travel to face Kentucky (March 14) and Southern Miss (March 16-18).
MSU will also play home-and-home midweek series against Belmont, Evansville and Southern Illinois. The Breds also host Memphis and April 18.
A new conference format awaits this season as the OVC has switched to Friday-Saturday-Sunday series in conference play. The Breds open the conference season at home against Morehead State (March 23-25). MSU will also host UT Martin (April 5-7), SIU Edwardsville (March 27-29), Eastern Illinois (May 4-6) and Eastern Kentucky (May 17-19).
The Breds will play a pair of non-conference games during the month of May. MSU will travel to face Ole Miss on May, 1, while hosting Kentucky at Brooks Stadium on May 15.
The 2012 OVC Baseball Tournament will be held at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn. on May 23-26.
