The Murray State rifle team hosted Texas Christian and Morehead State over the weekend at the Pat Spurgin Range in Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray, Ky.
TCU won the three-way match with an aggregate 4701, while the Racers totaled 4606 and the Eagles finished at 4558.
"I know this sounds like a repeat, but for the second week in a row, our good stuff wasn't enough to overcome our struggles," MSU Head Coach Alan Lollar said. "TCU is a great team, and they showed it on Sunday and Morehead shot some good scores this weekend."
The Racers scored a 2282 in smallbore, led by Bill Harvey's 572 (seventh place in a field of 23 competitors), while Caroline Barber and Kelsey Emme each added a 571 and Kyle Donnan added a 570.
Emme paced the Racers' 2324 air rifle score with a sixth place finish on a 585. Ashley Rose added a 583, while Kaitlin Cleven and Donnan each added a 578.
Other MSU scores included a Kirsten Moyer with a 575 in air rifle, while Marisca Mozeleski added a 567 in smallbore and Michael Burzynski added a 582 in air rifle.
"We shot a good team prone and an acceptable standing, but fell apart in team kneeling," Lollar said. “We have not achieved the level of consistency we need, yet. The good news is that we are still the same team, with the same potential.”
"I am really proud of Marisca, she bettered her personal best in smallbore by 10 points,” Lollar added. “She has been working hard and it's beginning to show."
