The Racers (0-3) saw their lone win come from senior Lindsey Wiseman for the second-straight match. The Memphis, Tenn., native defeated Lexi Brand at No. 4 singles with a score of 4-6, 7-6, 10-7. Wiseman teamed with fellow senior Alexis Webb at No. 2 doubles and fought hard, but fell 9-7 to Marietta Bigus and Brand.
“Lindsey Wiseman has put together two good wins back-to-back for us,” said head coach Connie Keasling. “We have been playing teams that are pushing us to be a well rounded team both indoor and outdoor and against varying playing styles.”
MSU will play one more match this weekend, as they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face Belmont. The teams will play at the Wildwood Tennis Club at 5 p.m.
“Tomorrow's match against Belmont will be a big test for us and it will tell us a lot about the rest of the season,” Keasling added. “Since we have had limited practice and playing time due to injuries and illness in the fall and early in the spring everyone is still getting better in every match and I know that with more practice and playing time it will pay off down the road.”
