vs. Arkansas State
The Breds are set to meet the Red Wolves for the 95th time Tuesday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium. MSU holds a 49-44-1 advantage in the all-time series, but ASU has won 15 of the last 17 meetings dating back to the 2002 season. Although the series is tied 24-24-1 in games played in Jonesboro, the series is very lopsided of late with the Red Wolves winning 12-straight against the Breds on their home field.
McDonald vs. Arkansas State
Head Coach Rob McDonald is just 2-11 against Arkansas State. His wins came in 2005 and 2009, both in Murray. McDonald is 0-6 in games in Jonesboro.
Arkansas State Round Two
The two teams will not have to wait long to see each other again as they will meet at Reagan Field on March 2. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
Newcomers Get Game Action
The Breds newcomers got some much needed game action over the weekend as they adapted to the college game. Eleven of the 15 newcomers saw action in the series against UNC Asheville.
Noonan Homers in Opener
Zach Noonan was the first Bred to collect a home run in the 2011 season when he hit a solo shot off the scoreboard in left center in opener at UNC Asheville. The long ball was the 10th of his career, after hitting three in each of his first three seasons.
Donze Impressive in First Start
Jake Donze turned in a strong outing in his first start of the 2011 season. Despite not factoring in the decision, the senior allowed just one earned run on five hits over 5.1 innings.
First Inning Struggles
The first inning was the problem inning for the Breds in the opening series as they failed to get out of the frame without allowing at least two runs in each of the first two games.
9-Run Fourth
The Murray State offense put together one of its biggest innings over the last couple seasons when they pushed across nine runs in the fourth inning in the season opener. The last time MSU score nine runs in an inning was the sixth inning against Eastern Kenucky on May 9, 2010.
On Deck
The Breds begin a 13-game homestand as they welcome Bowling Green to Reagan Field for a three-game series Feb. 25-27. The series gets underway Friday at 2 p.m.
