Racers Win Fourth Straight NewWave Communications Classic

Final Results
Heavy rain washed out the first round Monday, and the tournament was decided Tuesday on one round of 18 holes.
Western Illinois placed second at 323, while Austin Peay was third at 326. Belmont was fourth with a 336, with Valparaiso (340) and Tennessee State (376) rounding out the field of six squads.
Individually, MSU's Morgan Cross was the medalist in the field of 38 competitors with a 76.
Teammates Delaney Howson and Caroline Lagerborg each carded an 80 to share third place. Alli Weaver was ninth with an 81 and Alex Hinteregger was 22nd with an 84.
MSU had three players in the field as individuals including Claudia Schwan who also had a piece of third place with an 80. Jilian Brake placed 22nd with an 84 and Madolyn Parker was 30th with a 90.
Lindsay Wandrey of Western Illinois was runner-up with a 78.
MSU has won six of the nine NewWave Tournaments since the event began in 2003. This was only the second time the event was reduced to 18 holes.
The Miller Memorial course played to a par of 72 at 6,017 yards.
The next challenge for Murray State is at the Northern Illinois Snowbird invitational at Pebble Creek GC in Tampa, Fla., March 17.
