NCAA Rifle Day One - Racers Finish Sixth In Smallbore

The Murray State Racers took sixth place in the smallbore competition at the 2011 NCAA Rifle Championships in Columbus, Ga.
The Racers finished with a team 2296 just behind fifth place Alaska-Fairbanks at 2299.
Leading the way for MSU was Kaitlin Cleven who carded a 580 and finished 16th in the qualifying round, while Emily Quiner was 19th at 578. Nehemiah Gillman was 32nd at 571, with Kyle Donnan in 38th place with a 567 and Ashley Rose with a spot in 40th with a 566.
Kentucky finished first with a 2336, while West Virginia was second at 2329 and Jacksonville State was third with a 2315. TCU came in fourth at 2313. After the Racers took sixth, the U.S. Naval Academy finished seventh at 2284 and the U.S. Military Academy was eighth with a 2273.
The Racers return to the range Saturday morning at 7 a.m. central time for the start of the air rifle competition.
