Murray State women's tennis freshman Carla Suga has started off the season by earning the first Ohio Valley Conference adidas Female Tennis Athlete of the Week honor for 2011.

Suga went 3-1 at No. 6 singles over the Racers' four matches last week. She teamed up with freshman Taylor Vick to go 3-0 at No. 3 doubles and fell at the same spot with Ashley Pierson. She has gone 5-5 in her last ten matches and has won her last three singles contests. She was one of just two Racers to earn three wins in singles play last week.

MSU is on the road for the next 10 days, with its next match being in Jacksonville, Ala., to open the OVC schedule against Jacksonville State, Friday, March 11 at noon. The Racers will play five matches over the 10-day Spring Break trip before returning home for their first outdoors matches of the season at Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
