Racers Gear Up For OVC Weekend At SEMO

Murray State kicks off a busy weekend with a home doubleheader against Conference USA opponent Memphis in the first meeting between the schools.
Memphis scored its third no hitter of the season in sweeping OVC-opponent Tennessee State 8-0 and 7-2. The Tigers are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are winners of their last six.
Carly Hummel leads the dominant pitching staff with 15 wins and a 1.41 earned run average this season. Jessica Phillips is one of the top hitters for Memphis, leading the team with 33 RBI, 11 home runs while sporting a .340 batting average.
The Racers continue weekend play with a Saturday/Sunday doubleheader at Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The Redhawks currently reside in fifth place in the OVC, holding an 11-9 conference record after losing a pair of games at conference-leader Eastern Illinois. The Racers won the season series last season, taking two of three games at Racer Field.
Carmen Fowler leads SEMO at the plate, sporting a .382 average and leading the team with 47 hits, 10 doubles, three triples and 15 walks.
Murray State struggled on each part of the game this past Tuesday, falling 11-0 in five innings to complete the season series with the Cougars. MSU allowed three home runs, including a 1st inning grand slam, and recorded just one hit on the afternoon.
