The Breds play the second game in the home-and-home series with the Salukis Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Abe Martin Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. The two teams met in Murray last Tuesday, with the Breds walking way with a 5-2 victory in a game called after five innings.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Breds and Salukis are meeting for the second time in as many weeks, with MSU win a rain-shortened game at Reagan Field. SIU still holds a 41-12 advantage in the all-time series. The Breds are just 4-22 in games played in Carbondale, with the last victory coming in 1999.

The Breds are taking on the Salukis for the second time in as many weeks. MSU won a rain-shorted game at Reagan Field last Tuesday. SIU has dominated the series in Carbondale, winnine 22 of the 26 meetings. The Breds last victory came in 1999.

Breds-Salukis Round 2
Just over a week ago, the two teams met on a rainy day in Murray. The Breds jumped out to an early lead and held on for the 5-2 rain-shortened victory. The game was stopped in the fifth inning due to the rain and darkness.

Rhodes Earns Player of Week Honor
Catcher Jacob Rhodes was named the OVC Player of the Week after going 8-for-13 with a home run and eight RBIs over four games against Southern Illinois and UT Martin. The award is the first for Rhodes.
Double Digits vs UT Martin
Murray State has scored double digits in two of the three games against UT Martin in three consecutive seasons. The Breds extended the streak as they scored 12 runs in the second game, and followed it up with 13 runs in the series finale.
Top 4 in Lineup
The top four in the Breds lineup did plenty of damage in the weekend series against UT Martin. The quartet of Ty Stetson, Brandon Elliott, Travis Isaak and Jacob Rhodes went a combine 28-for-56 with seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBIs. They also drew five walks and scored 20 runs.
Road Victories
The Breds earned their first road victories of the season when they swept a doubleheader from UT Martin on April 2. MSU started the season by dropping its first eight games away from Johnny Reagan Field.
First Midweek Victory
Murray State earned its first midweek victory of the season when they defeated Southern Illinois 5-2. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning due to rain.
Breds Use Small Ball in Victory
The Breds played small ball in the wet conditions to defeat Southern Illinois. In just four innings, the Breds put down a pair of sacrifice bunts and added a pair of bunt base hits, helping account for three of the five runs.
On Deck
The Breds return home for an early OVC-showdown with preseason favorite Jacksonville State on April 9-10. The series gets underway at 1 p.m. both days.
