Clayton is a defensive specialist from South Oldham High School. She spent five years on the varsity team for the Dragons and helped the team claim three 8th Region titles and a trip to the Kentucky Elite 8 as a senior.
“I believe that Morgen is going to be one of those girls that will just find a way to make herself an important and very useful part of the program,” said Schwepker. “She is a 'go after it hard or go home' kind of player and you can never go wrong with this kind of athletic attitude. Morgen has had to play many roles for the teams that she has been on, so she is used to being asked to do some things she might not be comfortable with. But her attitude is always the same, just go for it. I think that at some point in her career she is going to be one of those players that makes a difference.”
The 2010 8th region Player of the Year tallied 331 digs, 218 kills, 63 service aces, 40 blocks, 34 assists, and had a .303 hitting percentage in her final season. Clayton earned All-29th District and All-8th Region honors in her final two campaigns and was also named to the KHSAA All-State Tournament Team as a senior.
Clayton was also a standout in the classroom, earning KHSAA Academic All-State 1st Team honors for five seasons.
Clayton joins Molly Goodrich (5-8 setter), Lia Havili (5-9 setter) and Kelsey Van Oss (6-1 middle hitter) on the 2011 roster.
