Racers Add Fifth to 2011 Class

Bailey has been a three-year member of Lakers varsity team that has earned three-straight 45th District Tournament Championships (2008-10). The two-time team captain earned all-region team honors in 2009 and all-district honors in her final two seasons.
“After Tyla visited our campus, the entire team knew they wanted her to be a part of the Racer Program,” said head coach David Schwepker. “Tyla is just such a nice person and has a great personality. Tyla is a very good student-athlete and is very committed to learning this sport and getting better. I love to coach athletes that are 'not as polished,' as it is very rewarding for me to see how they develop throughout their college career.”
Bailey tallied 190 kills, 89 blocks and 55 service aces in her final season at Russell County, leading the team in both the kills and blocks column.
For the past three seasons she has also been a member of a club team, which claimed the 2011 Hi Neighbor Tournament Championship.
Bailey also participated in basketball for five seasons and has a very strong academic career. She was on the student council and a member of the National Honors Society, FCA, and DECA while earning a 3.93 GPA.
Bailey will join Morgen Clayton (5-8 defensive specialist), Molly Goodrich (5-8 setter), Julia Havili (5-9 setter) and Kelsey Van Oss (6-1 middle blocker) as the newcomers to the 2011 roster.
