STORY LINES
Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman is 238 yards away from passing Michael Proctor to become the all-time leading passer in MSU history. Brockman already holds the school record for attempts, completions and touchdowns. Proctor will be in attendance for Saturday's Homecoming game. The last time Proctor was on the sidelines for Homecoming, Brockman broke his single-game touchdown record by throwing for 570 yards and seven touchdowns against Missouri State.
The game between the Racers and Skyhawks has been decided in the first quarter in four of the last five meetings. In 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011, the winner of the game has had 28 points at the end of the first quarter. The Racers led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter in the last meeting at The Track.
The Racers will be playing their first day game of the 2012 season. In the Chris Hatcher era, MSU is 11-2 in day games.
The Racers offense has been in rythym through three OVC games this season, averaging 57 points per game. They are averaing 574.0 yards per game, including 432.0 through the air.
The Game
The Racers return to the friendly confines of The Track as they welcome UT Martin for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
vs. UT Martin
The Racers hold a 35-15-1 record all-time against the Skyhawks. UTM has had the upper hand of late as they have won six of the last seven meetings. MSU prevailed 52-16 in the last meeting at The Track.
Homecoming
The Racers are 48-30-1 all-time on Homecoming. This will mark the third time UT Martin will serve as the Homecoming opponent. The Racers are 2-0 against the Skyhawks, winning 40-34 in 1991, and 47-35 in 1998.
Three-Game Scoring Streak
The Racers are in the midst of the second-highest three-game scoring streak in school history. MSU has scored 171 points over their previous three games. The Racers scored 230 points over the final three games of the 1928 season. The modern-era record was 149 points during the 1996 season.
Powell 3-Straight Over 100
Walter Powell has over 100 receiving yards in each of the last three games. He has improved his numbers in each game. He had 142 yards against Eastern Illinois, 162 yards against Tennessee Tech and 172 yards against Austin Peay. He is one game shy of tieing Marcus Harris' record of four-straight 100-yard performances.
Brockman Earns OVC Honor
Casey Brockman was named the adidas OVC Offensive Player of the Week after going 38-for-43 for 455 yards and five touchdowns in the victory over Austin Peay.
Brockman Sets TD Record
Quarterback Casey Brockman became the all-time leader in career touchdown passes at Murray State against Austin Peay. He broke Michael Proctor's old record of 52. The record-breaking touchdown came late in the second quarter to Ja-Vonta Trotter.
Brockman Eyes Yardage Record
Quarterback Casey Brockman enters the game needing 238 yards to pass Michael Proctor to became the all-time leader in passing yards for the Racers. (complete list of records on page 2).
17-Straight to Start Game
Brockman started the game against Austin Peay by completing his first 17 passes. He fell just two completions shy of tieing Butch Mosby's record of 19-straight passes.
Brockman to Powell Openers
For the second-straight game, the combination of Casey Brockman and Walter Powell hooked up for a touchdown on the opening drive. The duo combined for a 14-yard connection against Tennessee Tech and a 16-yard hook up against Austin Peay
Brady Scores on Ground and Air
Junior Duane Brady scored on the ground and through the air against Austin Peay. He caught a 38-yard TD pass in the first quarter, and then ran in from 11-yards out in the third. It was the first time he scored a rushing and receiving touchdown since the Georgia State game last season.
Humphries Throws 1st TD
True freshman KD Humphries threw his first career touchdown pass in the fourth quarter against Austin Peay. He connected with Dontel Watkins on a nine-yard connection. He finished the game 2-for-2 for 30 yards.
Watkins Grabs Two
Wide receiver Dontel Watkins caught a pair of touchdown passes against Austin Peay. It was his first multi-touchdown game of his career, and gives him three touchdowns in the last two games.
