Racers Travel to Two Sites Over the Weekend

The Murray State men's and women's cross country squads will be traveling to two separate meets on Saturday. The Racer men, along with some of the women's team will be heading to Owensboro, Ky., for the Fast 'Cats Invite, while the rest of the women's team is heading to Louisville for the Pre-NCAA meet.
Since the University of Louisville will be hosting the NCAA Championships in November, the Pre-National meet serves as a pre-cursor for the national championships, and this year's meet features numerous powerhouses that finished among the elite at the 2011 national championships.
Four separate races will be run at the Pre-NCAAs (two men's and two women's). The first race starts at 9:30 a.m., with the final one beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m.
In total, 63 schools will be participating in the event with Eastern Kentucky and Southeast Missouri joining MSU as the OVC representatives. 45 teams will race against the Racers in the women's “Black” race.
Murray State is coming off of a strong peformance two weekends ago at Notre Dame. At the Notre Dame Invitational nine Racers in all set new personal bests in the race.
This will be the final weekend of competition for the Racers before traveling to Jacksonville, Ala., For the OVC Championships on Oct. 27.
