A goal by SIU Edwardsville's Cassidy Sherman in the 34^th minute was the difference-maker and the only goal in Murray State's 1-0 loss Friday night to the Cougars in Edwardsville, Ill.

Murray State (3-9, 1-4 OVC) recorded eight shots in the game, but just two came in the second half and two shots came on goal. Both shots on goal came early in the contest. Julie Mooney fired the first in the fourth minute that was saved by Jennifer Pelley. Bronagh Kerins recorded the other shot on goal just over two minutes later.

Mooney and Teryn Wright each recorded two shots on goal to lead the Racers in the loss. Jenelle Cunningham, Taylor Stevens and Rachel Walker also recorded a shot each. Latesha Stevenson recorded seven saves in net for MSU, the second-most on the season for her.

Murray State returns to action on Sunday afternoon as the Racers will travel to Charleston, Ill., to face Eastern Illinois in an OVC matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
