No. 10 Rifle Returns Home This Weekend

The No. 10 Murray State rifle team hosts a home match on Saturday at Pat Spurgin Range. The Racers welcome fourth-ranked and fellow OVC foe Jacksonville State and also the ninth-ranked Rebels of Ole Miss.
The Racers are coming off a pair of losses to top-5 teams last weekend when they fell to third-ranked Kentucky 4676-4615 and to No. 4 Army 4650-4620. Both matches were held in Lexington, Ky. In both matches last week Bill Harvey recorded a career-high in smallbore. Against Army, Harvey shot a score of 584. Harvey also shot a career-best aggregate score of 1162 in the loss.
Caroline Barber led MSU in its match against Kentucky last week with an aggregate score of 1155. Freshman Kaitlyn Wilson had a strong showing against Army last weekend, setting new personal-bests in smallbore (569), air rifle (580) and aggregate (1149).
After placing third in its first event of the season, Jacksonville State has rattled off wins against The Citadel, UTEP, Nevada and Morehead State. Ole Miss placed third in its first two events of the season and is coming off a 4641-4621 loss to sixth-ranked Nebraska last weekend.
Saturday's match will be the Racers final home event in 2012. Murray State will travel for its next three matches before taking a break for the holiday season and will return home against Alaska-Fairbanks on Jan. 10.
