Racer Rifle Hosts NCAA Qualifier - Emme Has Top Air Rifle Score

The Murray State rifle squad hosted an NCAA Qualifier over the weekend at the Pat Suprgin Range in Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray, Ky.
MSU fired an smallbore score of 2341 and then followed with a 2341 score in air rifle. However, MSU's total of was three points behind Memphis 4613-4610. Columbus State placed third at 4583, while UT Martin was fourth at 4566.
NCAA Rifle doesn't automatically send the winner of a regional forward. These qualifying matches across the country count 50% of your qualifying score for the NCAA's. The other 50% come from your best three scores in regular season at different locations.
So now the Racers have to wait to see where they finish nationally.
"I'm proud of the effort this team has made this season,” Alan Lollar said. “Qualifying as a team is a long shot and there are the chances for individuals to also qualify with the scores they shot on Saturday and Sunday. Now it's a waiting game to see. The teams will be notified on Feb. 22 and the individuals the next day."
Kelsey Emme led MSU with a 590 in air rifle to take the top spot in a field of 33 shooters, while Kyle Donnan was MSU's top finisher in smallbore with a 573 that was good for a third place finish.
