Murray State's Kelsey Emme Selected To NCAA Air Rifle Championship

Murray State's Emme Kelsey has been selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle Championships (March 8-10) at Converse Hall and French Field House at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Emme, a freshman from Peidmont, S.D., will represent Murray State in the air rifle competition.
Emme had an outstanding season for the Racers in which she was named All-Ohio Valley Conference and also the OVC Newcomer Team. She led the squad in aggregate average at 1155.70. She was first on the team in air rifle with an average of 584 (Out of a possible 600) and was third in smallbore average at 571.
Emme had a season-high 592 (Oct. 30) and posted scores of 590 or better three times including a 590 last weekend at the NCAA Qualifier that was hosted by the Racers.
"We are really excited for Kelsey,” Murray State Head Coach Alan Lollar said. “She has worked hard and this time hard work has been rewarded. It's easy to look back and see how she got here. Kelsey has a work ethic and competitiveness that is exactly what we are looking for in our Racer shooters. You can't teach that. It comes from inside, and that's why she will always battle and have a chance."
The teams that were selected to the NCAA competition include: Alaska-Fairbanks, Army, Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Nevada, TCU, UTEP and West Virginia.
Murray State's Kelsey Emme was selected to the NCAA event along with individuals including: Dani Foster (North Carolina State), Katie Fretts (Kentucky), Amanda Furrer (Ohio State), Daniel Hermsmeier (Memphis), Abbey Stanec (Mississippi) Keely Stankey (Mississippi) and Zachary Wells (Army).
Individual and team competitions in smallbore three-position (60 shots) will be held (March 9). Individual and team competitions in air rifle (60 shots) will be held (March 10). The overall team champion will be determined by combining the smallbore and air rifle team total scores into one aggregate score for each institution.
