Cody Larson went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as Murray State got another strong pitching performance in a 6-1 victory over South Dakota State Saturday afternoon at Reagan Field.

The Jacks (0-2) got on the board in the fifth inning as Daniel Marra took advantage of the wind for a solo home run to right field.

The Breds (4-3) finally got on the board in the sixth as Travis Isaak reached on a fielding error and Jacob Rhodes drew a walk. After a sacrifice bunt from Mike Kozlowski, Corey Bays pinch hit and delivered an RBI groundout to shortstop. Cody Larson drove in the second run of the inning with a run-scoring single to right field.

MSU broke the game open in the eighth as Kozlowski started the inning with a single up the middle. After a sacrifice bunt from Bays, Cody Larson delivered and RBI double off the top of the left-field fence. Luke Daugherty followed with a run scoring single up the middle. With two outs, Ty Stetson was hit by a pitch and Paul Ritzheimer plated two runs with a double down the left-field line.

Cameron Finch (2-0) turned in his second-straight solid start as he allowed one run on six hits and five strikeouts over seven innings. Luke Shuemaker (1) earned the save after allowing one hit and two strikeouts over two innings.

Adam Bray (0-1) took the loss after allowing two unearned runs over 5.1 innings.

Isaak, Kozlowski and Larson each collected two hits. Ritzheimer and Larson each drove in a pair of runs.

The two teams close out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. Right hander Tim Vonder Haar will take the mound for the Breds, while the Jacks will counter with right hander Layne Somsen.
