Racer Rifle Takes Second In OVC Smallbore Competition

The Murray State Racers had a spot in second place just 18 points off the lead after the smallbore competition at the Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship in Martin, Tenn.
The Racers, who won the smallbore title in three of the last four seasons, recorded a 2285 in day one of the two-day meet and trailed leader Jacksonville State at 2303. Host UT Martin was in third at 2268, while Morehead State (2266) and UTM's women's team (2218) rounded out the field.
Bill Harvey led the way for the Racers with a 575 for a spot in third place in a field of 25 shooters, while Ashley Rose was in fourth with a 574. Kelsey Emme had a spot in eighth place after a 570. Kailtlin Cleven's 566 earned a spot in ninth place, while Kyle Donnan placed 21st with a 552.
The OVC champion will be decided Sunday with the air rifle competition.
The Racers will be looking for their 11th OVC overall title Sunday. MSU has won the championship the last two seasons.
