Game Notes

Murray State softball hits the road this week, traveling to Memphis, Tenn., for a pair of midweek games against the University of Memphis before returning to OVC action this weekend at Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Ill. Wednesday's twinbill
kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Tiger Softball Complex, with Saturday's doubleheader at Williams Field beginning at 1 p.m. and Sunday's single game starting at noon.

SCOUTING MEMPHIS
Memphis comes into this week's action struggling as of late, having dropped its last four games and seven of its last eight. They are still looking for its first win in Conference-USA action through three weekends. The Tigers have played one common opponent with Murray State this season, having defeated Jacksonville State 10-5 in the season's opening weekend.

Shortstop and leadoff hitter Morgan Mosby leads the Memphis offense with a .352 batting average, tallying 37 hits in 33 starts this season in scoring 12 runs and driving in eight. Jessica Phillips leads the Tigers with 18 RBI and is the team's second leading hitter
at .259 on the year, as the squad as a whole is hitting just .201 on the season.

Jordan Richwood leads the Memphis rotation with a 3.62 ERA in 19 appearances. Ellen Roberts has started the majority of games for the pitching staff, holding a 4-12 record in 17 starts.

SCOUTING EASTERN ILLINOIS
The 2011 Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions have struggled a little bit out of the gates in conference play, holding a 3-4 record in league action. The Panthers have won three of their last four against OVC opponents, splitting a pair against SIUE and winning two against Morehead State.

Bailey O'Dell leads EIU and ranks second in the OVC with a .416 batting average. The Panthers leadoff batter also leads the team in runs scored with 15 and has a team-best 17 RBI on the season.

Stephanie Maday, a 2011 All-OVC Second Team selection, returns to lead the Panthers pitching staff wtih a 2.31 earned run average and 8-6 record in 84.2 innings pitched this season.
