The Murray State women's tennis ran away with a 7-0 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Jacksonville State Friday at the Bennie Purcell Courts in Murray, Ky.
The Racers improved to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in the OVC.
MSU got off to a good start by winning two of the three doubles matches and the first point of the day. Cassiday Cunitz teamed with Ashley Canty to win 8-5 and MSU got another win from Ashley Pierson and Jordana Klein by an 8-5 score.
MSU then proceeded to win all seven singles matches.
The first match to end was Carla Suga when she bested JSU's Zoe Bizinos 6-0, 6-0. Canty Followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rafaela Wenzel and Cunitz dispatched Raisa Guasti by a 6-2, 6-3 final. Klein split the first two sets with Raphaela Lima then won the tiebreaker 10-5 to decide the match. MSU's Carolyn Huerth kept the day rolling along with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Danielle Kerindi. The day was a complete singles sweep when Ashley Pierson defeated Aleksanra Cmilijic with a 10-5 win in the super tie breaker after splitting the first two sets.
The Racers look to keep their momentum going Saturday when they host Tennessee State at noon.
