Murray State women's basketball head coach Rob Cross is pleased to announce the addition of Morgan Harrington to his staff. Harrington will serve as a graduate assistant manager for the 2012-2013 season.
"We are thrilled to have Morgan join the Racer family,” said Cross. “She had an outstanding collegiate playing career. As the daughter of a college basketball coach with over 700 wins on his resume, Morgan grew up in the gym and brings a great understanding of the game to our staff. We look forward to helping her develop as a coach, as she helps our student-athletes grow as both people and as players.
Harrington comes to Murray State after a successful collegiate career at Missouri State and Lindenwood (Mo.). After two years at Missouri State, Harrington transferred to Lindenwood where she earned NAIA All-American honorable mention and first team All-Heart of America athletic conference honors for the 2010-2011 season. Harrington was hampered by injuries for much of the 2011-2012 season, but still managed to average 10 points and 4.2 assists per game.
Both basketball and coaching are in Harrington's blood, as her father is legendary NJCAA basketball coach, Jay Harrington. Through 35 seasons at Southwestern Illinois Community College, Harrington, a NJCAA Basketball Hall of Famer, has led the Blue Storm to over 600 wins, while amassing 734 wins over the course of his career.
Harrington graduated in May of 2012 from Lindenwood with a degree in sport management and is currently pursuing her master's in business administration at Murray State.
