Racers Travel to Take On Missouri State

STORY LINES
Murray State hits the road for their first game against an FCS opponent as they travel to face Missouri State at 7 p.m. This is the first game that will be televised on the Racer TV Network.
The last time the two teams met on the field, the result rewrote the record books. The Bears jumped out to big early lead, but the Racers responded in a major way in front of the Homecoming crowd. MUR walked away with a 72-59 victory.
Quarterback Casey Brockman needs 11 completions to become the school's all-time leader in completions. He is also just 177 yards shy of becoming the third player to pass for over 7,000 yards in their career.
Junior linebacker Qua Huzzie was named the College Football Performance Awards Linebacker of the Week after posting nine tackles, four tackles-for-loss, and an interception against Central Arkansas.
The game is the first of home-and-home between the two schools. The teams will meet again next year during the second week of the season at Stewart Stadium.

The Racers are 19-14 all-time against current members fo the Missouri Valley Conference. Eight (6-2) of those games came against Youngstown State when they were members of the OVC.
Last Time vs. Missouri State
The last time Murray State and Missouri State stepped on the field together, it was a game for the record books. The two teams combined for 131 points, with the Racers using a 27-point fourth quarter for the thrilling 72-59 victory.

The early weather forecast has temperatures in the upper 70s with a 30% chance of rain.
The Bears Again
For the second time in as many weeks, the Racers will face off against a team with the Bears nickname. It marks the second time in the last three years the Racers have played the Bears of Central Arkansas and Missouri State in the same season. In 2011, MUR played against the Panthers of Eastern Illinois and Georgia State.
Huzzie Earns National Honor
Linebacker Qua Huzzie was named the College Football Performance Awards National Linebacker of the Week after recording four tackles-for-loss and an interception against Central Arkansas.
Brockman Completes 41
For the third time in his career, quarterback Casey Brockman completed at least 41 passes in a game. He finished the game against Central Arkansas by going 41-for-63 for 445 yards. The 63 attempts was also the second-most he has thrown in a game. He set career highs against Tennessee State in 2011 after going 45-for-67.
Quest For 100
The Murray State offense is closing in on running 100 plays in a game. The Racers ran 97 plays against Central Arkansas. The school record for plays in 99 set against Tennessee State in 2011.
Brockman Catches Another Pass
For the second-straight home hopener, quarterback Casey Brockman has been on the receiving end of a thrown pass. Brockman hauled in an 11-yard reception in the second quarter on a fourth-down play to set up the Racers first touchdown. Last year, Brockman caught a 15-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter against Tennessee State.
Players Find Endzone for 1st Time
A pair of Racers found the endzone for the first time in their Racer careers against Central Arkansas. Dontel Watkins caught a 70-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and Jordan Morrow hauled in a 14-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Phillips Throws TD on First Pass
Quarterback Spencer Phillips made the most of his first collegiate pass as he connected with Jordan Morrow on a 14-yard touchdown.
Trotter Reaches Double Digits
Ja-Vonta Trotter had a career day against Central Arkansas as he caught 11 passes for 92 yards. His previous high was seven receptions set against Eastern Illinois in 2011.
Huzzie Plays Behind Line
Junior Qua Huzzie spent a lot of time in the backfield against UCA as he tied his career high with four tackles-for-loss. He also recorded four tackles-for-loss against Eastern Kentucky last season.
