Rifle Competes Over the Weekend at Jacksonville State

The No. 8 ranked Murray State rifle team was defeated over the weekend by fourth-ranked Jacksonville State 4638-4609 at the Gamecock Rifle Range. Columbus State also competed in the triangular match and finished with a score of 4574.
"Today was not what we had trained for coming off our best score of the year (on Thursday),” said Head Coach Alan Lollar. “I thought we would do better, but it is still a learning process.”
The Racers compiled scores of 2283 in smallbore and 2326 in air rifle. Kelsey Emme led the Racers with a match-high score of 591 in air rifle.
"I was pleased with Kelsey's day,” said Lollar. “We had a little equipment issue in smallbore, but we were fine once it was corrected. She followed that up with a solid air rifle."
"Shooting is like a lot of things, if you pay attention you will learn and grow. There is another match to shoot, and it's time to apply what we learned."
The Racers will return home next weekend to the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range for the Withrow Open.
"We are looking forward to hosting the Withrow Open and preparing for the OVC Championships at Morehead State," commented Lollar.
