Racers Finish Round Two of the Skyhawk Classic

RESULTS
The Murray State University men's golf team competed in the second round of the Skyhawk Fall Classic at Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tenn. The Racers finished the second round tied for third place with scores of 285-285=570.
After dropping from first to sixth at the end of the second round, Jared Gosser carded scores of 68-72=140. Jordan Smith had an impressive second round with scores of 72-69=141 to place ninth while Duncan McCormick carded scores of 71-72=143 for 16th place. Preston French also had a great second round with scores of 75-72=147 to end the day in 50th place. T.J. Ferry rounded out the first group of Racers in 62nd place with scores of 74-76=150.
The Murray State Gold team completed the second round to end the day tied for 10th place. Matt Zakutney led the Racer Gold team with scores of 69-73=142 to end the round in 12th place. Chasten Howard carded scores of 72-74=146 for 40th place while Daniel Harper had scores of 72-75=147 for a spot in 50th place. Rounding out the field for the Racers was Brock Simmons with scores of 76-72=148 for a spot in 56th place.
Lee University of Tennessee led the group of 16 teams after the second round with scores of 285-271-556 while host school UT Martin came in a close second with scores 276-284=560. Tied for third with the Racers was Southern Illinois with scores of 284-286=570. Other team scores included John A. Logan (576), Dalton State (578), Alabama State (581), Christian Brothers (582), Austin Peay (582), UT Martin Orange (583), Jackson State (584), Union (585), IPFW (586), Tennessee State (593) and Bethel College (614).
The final round will begin Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 a.m.
