Wright State started Thursday's women's basketball game against Murray State by making each of its first six shots and the Racers were never able to recover, falling 95-69 at the CFSB Center in Murray.

The six-shot streak by the Raiders (4-1) to start the game, including three 3-pointers, placing Murray State (2-2) at an early 15-4 disadvantage. The Racers were outshot 42.9 percent to 36.1 percent in the half and trailed, 52-33 in the break.

In the second half, the Racers tightened up their game and improved on all three shooting percentages in the bottom frame. Despite the improvement and only being outscored by seven in the stanza, the first half deficit proved to be too much to overcome, leading to the 26-point loss.

For the game, the Racers shot nearly 40 percent from the floor in the game and shot 45 percent from 3-point range. Murray State's downfall, however, proved to be turnovers, as the Raiders committed just eight compared to 19 by MSU.

Keiona Kirby led the Racers with 19 points, while Julia Fox followed with a career-high 13 points. Jessica Winfrey once again led MSU in rebounds with 10, while Kirby and Janssen Starks followed with six each.

Ivory James led Wright State on the night with career-high 35 points, while Kim Demmings followed with 26. Tayler Stanton led all rebounders with 12, while Demmings added eight and James chipped in with seven.

The Racers will return to The Bank Saturday for the second game of a three game home stand against Saint Louis. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
