Winners of its last two contests, the Murray State Women's basketball team contest will look to keep its recent hot-streak alive when it travels to Nashville to face Lipscomb Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast globally on ESPN3.com and is free to watch for those with access to the site.
The Racers won their second game in a row Tuesday by getting the better end of a 72-66 see-saw battle with Kennesaw State at the CFSB Center. Kennesaw State led by as many as 11 in the opening stanza, but the Racers battled back and trailed by just one at the half, 36-35. In the second half, it was the Racers that found themselves leading by 11 and having to hold off a surge by the Owls at the end of the game.
However, calmness under pressure allowed MSU to go 7-for-8 at the charity stripe in the last 64 seconds to seal the victory. Keiona Kirby led the Racers with 22, while Taylor Porter and Janssen Starks followed with 14 and 10, respectively. Bianca Babic led MSU on the boards in the game with eight, while Jessica Winfrey and Netanya Jackson each added five to the cause.
Saturday will be the sixth meeting all-time between Murray State and Lipscomb and the second in as many years. The series has been somewhat sporadic meeting once each during the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons, once each during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, then again last season and now this season.
In the five previous meetings, Murray State has come out victorious three times and is 1-1 in games played at Allen Arena in Nashville. Last season, the two teams met at the CFSB Center in Murray and it was double-digit performances from three different Racers that led to the 63-55 MSU win.

The Lady Bisons are coming off their first win of the season Tuesday, an 81-78 overtime victory over cross-town rival and OVC member Tennessee State. After trailing at the half and forcing overtime, Lipscomb was led by Maya Dillard in the extra time who scored seven of the team's 12 points in the period to move the Lady Bisons to 1-4 on the year. Sara Bliss led all scorers with 20, while Ashley Southern added a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Southern leads Lipscomb in scoring with 15 a game, while also leading in rebounding at 13.6. Chandler Cooper and Sara Bliss follow behind Southern with 12.0 and 11.2 points per game, respectively. As a team, the Lady Bisons are averaging 62.6 point per game, while giving up 82.8
