Women's Tennis Earns 6-1 Victory Over Lipscomb

The Murray State women's tennis team picked up a convincing non-conference victory on Friday at the Kenlake Tennis Center. The Racers made quick work of Lipscomb winning the match 6-1.
Carla Suga earned the match-clinching win for the Racers at number two singles, defeating Melissa Kromer 6-4 and 6-2. Suga improved her dual match record to 3-2 on the year.
At number one singles, Ashley Canty made quick work of Deahna Welcher, winning 6-1, 6-0. Megan Blue and Erin Patton also improved their dual records to 3-2 by earning victories on Friday. Blue won at number three 6-1, 6-2 while Patton was victorious at number four singles 6-0 and 6-3.
Carolyn Huerth grabbed the Racers' other singles victory in the match, winning at number six singles 8-2 over Shilpa Naruka. Suzaan Stoltz lost at number five for MSU to Lipscomb's Jenny Borck 8-6. Both Huerth and Stoltz played eight-game pro set matches as the Racers had already clinched the match victory.
In doubles play, the duo of Canty and Huerth won at number one 8-5, while Patton and Stoltz took the win at number three, 8-4. At number two doubles, the tandem of Suga and Blue were defeated 8-4.
Next up, the Racers (2-3) will continue their home stand as they will host St. Louis on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Kenlake Tennis Center.
