Four Advance to Semi-Finals at Austin Peay Open

Women's tennis started their fall season at the Austin Peay Open for the second season in a row. The Racers saw immediate success with four student-athletes qualifying for tomorrow's singles semifinal round and three pairs headed to the doubles quarterfinal round.
Megan Blue won three matches on the day, first defeating Alex Crawford of Western Kentucky 6-2, 6-0 in the round of 16 and then E. Donetskova of Southeast Missouri 6-0, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of Flight "B". She also teamed up with Erin Patton at doubles to defeat Valeriia Kashina and Donetskova of Southeast Missouri.  Maya Smith and Annisa Warasanti of Southeast Missouri
Andrea Eskauriatza advanced to the semis after a bye in the round of 16 and a win over Sarah Candeloro of UT Martin 6-4, 6-2 in the Flight "A" quarterfinals. Her and partner Carla Suga received a bye into the doubles quarterfinal round.
Eleonore Tchakarova also played in flight "B" and advanced to the semifinal round. She received a bye before defeating Gabby Crofford of Western Kentucky 6-1, 6-0. Eleonore and her sister, Verginie, teamed up at doubles and defeated Valeriia Kashina and Donetskova of Southeast Missouri to earn a trip to the quarterfinals.
Verginie will be playing in the semifinals of Flight "C" after her win over Florence Nicole of UT Martin, 6-4, 6-2.
The open continues tomorrow with the semifinal rounds of singles competition and quarterfinals of doubles.Â
