Lelm Named OVC Offensive Player of the Week

For the second consecutive a Murray State student-athlete has been honored as OVC Player of the Week. Alyssa Lelm was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week in voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
Last week, Scottie Ingram was named Offensive Player of the Week and Sam Bedard was awarded Setter of the Week. It is the first time since 2003 an MSU student-athlete has been award OVC Offensive Player of the Week when Paige Sun accomplished the feat in back-to-back weeks.
Lelm, a sophomore from Mackinaw, Ill., had an impressive week both in volume and efficiency. She landed 49 kills in 11 sets at the High Point Classic, on her way to being named to the All-Tournament Team. She also had an attack percentage of .478 in the three matches. Against Davidson, Lelm registered a career-high 23 kills to go along with a .512 attack percentage, becoming the first Racer since Abbi Gui in 2002 to land 20 or more kills and have an attack percentage of over .500.
Lelm followed up her career night with back-to-back 13 kill performances against High Point and North Carolina A&T.
Murray State will begin their conference schedule Friday, Sep. 27th at Tennessee Tech. At 10-4, the Racers head into conference play with their best record since
