For the fifth consecutive year, Murray State hosted the Withrow Open at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range. A number of the top teams from around the country participated, including last year's NCAA champions, West Virginia and two-time reigning OVC champs, Jacksonville State.
The Mountaineers were the top scoring team among nine in the meet, finishing with an aggregate score of 4710. Kentucky took second place with 4683 and JSU finished third with 4672 points.
Individual winners included Emily Holsopple of Kentucky in the smallbore with a score of 592 and Maren Prediger of West Virginia in the air rifle, who shot a 598.
Although Murray State did not compete in the team portion, a few Racers took part as individuals. Hannah Harris was the top scoring individual in the smallbore with a 576, a season-best for her. Harris also shot a 576 in the air rifle, also a season-best.
Also competing from Murray State were Sam Harris and Marisca Mozeleski. Harris fired a 581 air rifle and 564 smallbore to place third and seventh respectively while Mozeleski placed fourth in the smallbore (569) and eighth in the air rifle (season-best 575).
Following the two-day event, Racers head coach Alan Lollar said "I would like to thank all the teams that come and make it such a great match."
