A season-low 27.4 field goal percentage led to the sixth-straight loss by the Murray State women's basketball team, falling 86-71 at Austin Peay's Dunn Center in Clarksville.

Murray State (8-13, 1-8) started the night off on the wrong foot, shooting just 18.8 percent in the opening stanza. In the early part of the frame, the Racers missed 10 straight shots and went over four minutes without scoring a point. Conversely, Austin Peay (8-13, 5-3) was a scorching 44.4 percent from the floor and took a 38-23 into the locker room at the break.

In the second half, the Racers improved by shooting 34.1 percent in the frame, but could never cut the lead into single digits. The Lady Govs held MSU to just six three pointers in the contest, almost three under its season average. The fact that Austin Peay had the hot hand in the game did not help, as the Lady Govs shot a blistering 61.5 in the second to finish the game at 51.6 percent, a season-high for MSU opponents.

Murray State did outrebound Austin Peay in the contest, 46-45 and committed just nine turnovers, compared to 12 by APSU. The Racers also experienced great success at the free throw line, making 25 of 32 for 78.1 percent.

Janssen Starks led the Racers on the night with a game-high 21 points, including going a prefect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Starks is now just the 11^th player in program history to be perfect at the line in a single game with at least 10 attempts. Jessica Winfrey followed with her seventh double-double of the season by scoring 13 points and pulling down 14 boards.

Nicole Olszewski led the Lady Govs with 20 points in the game, while Jennifer Nwokocha pulled down her own double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tiasha Gray and Tearra Banks each had 13 points, while Beth Rates and Kristen Stainbeck added 10 apiece to round out the six Lady Govs in double figures.

The Racers will now have nearly two weeks off before returning to action on Feb. 10. Murray State will begin its final stretch of the season when they travel to take OVC East foe Tennessee State.
