Volleyball Sweeps OVC Weekly Honors

The Ohio Valley Conference named Scottie Ingram Offensive Player of the Week, Ellie Lorenz Defensive Player of the Week, and Sam Bedard Setter of the Week. This is Ingram's third straight Offensive Player of the Week award. This is Lorenz's second time being named Defensive Player of the Week. This is Bedard's third Setter of the Week award this season.
Ingram recorded a double-double during the sweep against Belmont where she turned in 22 kills and 10 digs. In the sweep verses Tennessee State she added 11 kills with 7 digs. Her 22 kills puts her in the Murray State record book as tied for fourth in the Racers Individual Match Highs for three set matches. She hit .378 while only committing five errors over the six sets. She averaged 5.50 kills per set to go along with averaging 5.83 points per set.
Lorenz had a strong defensive weekend as she recorded double-digit digs for both matches. She turned in 20 digs and one assist against Belmont. The next day, she recorded 20 digs again, to go along with two assists and one service ace to help sweep Tennessee State. She averaged 6.67 digs per set.
Bedard led the team with a .400 hitting percentage over the weekend, while helping the team to average a .300 hitting percentage. Against Belmont, she recorded 39 assists, to go along with 15 digs and 4 kills. During the Tennessee State match she recorded 33 assists, while adding 4 kills, 2 service aces and 7 digs. She averaged 12.0 assists per set. She totaled 8 kills over the weekend with only two errors.
The Murray State volleyball team will return to the court at Racer Arena Friday, October 24 at 7 p.m. to face SIU Edwardsville along with Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m. where they will face Eastern Illinois.Â
