Nearly every basketball coach in the nation is thinking the same thing.
It's late October and there is so much teach and improve before the season opener in November. Indeed, the clock is ticking as college basketball teams head toward the opening of the 2014-15 season.
It's no different in Murray, Ky., as a devoted and loyal fan base revs up for the games that lie ahead.
Murray State hoops Coaches Rob Cross and Steve Prohm talked about where their Murray State teams are today and what they want to get done before the season starts at the annual Racer Basketball media day at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
"We're very excited about this season and feel our roster has a lot of potential," Cross said. "It's the most athletic group I've been around in all my years at Murray State top to bottom. I'm excited to see how some of our players that haven't played a lot yet, look when the lights come on when they're playing someone else besides their teammates."
"The great teams I've been a part of, we've had great leadership," Prohm said. "Those guys weren't always the best players on the team but they were the most consistent and that's what I'm challenging this group of seniors for. To be good every day and to understand the better our team does, the better they come out on the end when the season is done."
Fans can see both teams Thursday (Oct. 30) at Racer Mania at the CFSB Center. This free event begins at 7 p.m. where fans can meet both teams and get autographs and photos. The MSU schedule posters will also be available.
The men's team plays an exhibition game at the CFSB Center (Nov. 6) against Freed-Hardeman at 7 p.m.. The regular season opener (Nov. 14) is a double-header with the women's team hosting Ohio at 5 p.m. and the men's team taking on Houston at 7 p.m.
