The Murray State Racers are back at home Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip against the Brescia Bearcats at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is back for his 24th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth will provide analysis. OVCDigitalNetwork.com will have live and free streaming video.
Towing for Toys is also starting Thursday at the game. Anyone who brings a new unwrapped toy to the CFSB Cetner's Gate-B will receive a free general admission ticket. Towing for Toys is a community toy drive partnership with Max's 641 Towing, Froggy, Mr. Gatti's and Racer Athletics. The game at home (Dec. 3) with Bethel will also be a toy collection night.
The Racers (1-1) are coming of an impressive road win Tuesday at Middle Tennessee 68-49. The game showcased MSU's tenacious defense as they held the Conference USA champs to only 12 baskets for the game. Jarvis Williams turned in a dominating effort with 28 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots, while Cameron Payne added 15 points, six assists and five steals.
Brescia (2-3) is a member of the NAIA and plays in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletics Association. They defeated Boyce in their last game (Nov. 11) at home in Owensboro, Ky., by a 68-49 score. Jordan Cooper-Livers leads the Bearcats with a 17.0 scoring average, while Austin Morris is their top rebounder at 10.8 per game.
The game matches the Racers against Brescia for a third straight season as Murray State grad and BU coach Josh Gibson returns to his hometown and alma mater. Gibson was on staff at Murray State twice. In the 2011-12 season, Gibson was the director of basketball operations for Coach Steve Prohm (2011-12) and got his coaching start in the same position with coach Billy Kennedy in the 2007-08 season.
After the Brescia game, the Racers have a busy week ahead heading into the Thanksgiving holiday. MSU is in Cincinnati Monday (Nov. 24) for a game with the Xavier Musketeers on Fox Sports 1 television. After Thanksgiving, the Racers compete in three straight days at the Challenge In Music City in Nashville, Tenn., at Municipal Auditorium. The three-day event (Nov. 28-30), includes the Racers, Drake, Portland and Valparaiso. Each team gets three games in three days. Call the MSU ticket office at (270) 809-3000 or visit GoRacers.com for ticket information.
