Racers End Fall With Dominating Performance

Murray State women's tennis produced a combined singles and doubles record of 26-7 at the Red Wolf Invitational at Allen Park in Jonesboro, Ark.
The event hosted by Arkansas State, capped the fall season for the Racers and sends them into the winter before they defend their Ohio Valley Conference title in the spring of 2015.
Murray State and Arkansas State were joined in the event by: Missouri State, Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, UT Martin and Western Kentucky.
"I'm very happy with the way our girls played and competed this weekend," said MSU coach Jorge Caetano. "We played very good tennis overall and won a lot of matches against some good competition which proves we're on the right track. We've been working a lot on being aggressive and taking control of matches and that's just what they did many times this fall."
When the weekend was totaled, the Racers won 4-of-5 flights and went 17-6 in singles play. They won 2-of-3 of doubles flights and were 9-1.
Indeed, the Racers head into winter with loads of confidence.
"Our team just works hard and improves every day and it is always good to see them competing for wins," Caetano said. "It was also great to see our newcomers finish the fall undefeated. We have a very special group who work extremely hard. We're going to keep working hard and I can't wait to see them all competing in the spring."

MSU's Andrea Eskauriatza (1st flight) and Nancy Karaky (3rd flight) each captured all three of her matches and didn't lose a set in taking the championship of their flights.
Alena Vasileva took a share of the 4th flight title and also went 3-0 Â and she didn't lose a set. She shared the 4th flight title with teammate Erin Patton .
Other Racers played at a high level with Megan Blue going 2-1 with her only loss coming in a third set battle as she placed third in the 2nd flight
Verginie Tchakarova went 2-1 on the weekend at ASU and was the 2nd flight runner-up. Additionally, Suzaan Stoltz battled in three matches and placed fifth in the 5th flight.
The Racers were equally dominating In doubles competition. The Tchakarova sisters shared the title of the 1st flight with teammates Eskauriatza and Karaky, each pair was 2-0. In the 2nd flight, Patton and Blue were 2-1 and placed third, while Vasileva and Stoltz were 3-0 and won the 3rd flight title.
