Murray State's women's tennis team dropped their first dual match of the season, 5-0 on the road at #33 Memphis. The loss puts the Racers at 2-1 on the season while the Tigers improve to 3-2.
MSU fought hard, losing a number of close matches. None closer than Andrea Eskauriatza's three set thriller at first singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Eskauriatza battled back to even the match with a 6-4 win. The match didn't fall her way though, losing 10-7 in the tiebreaker.
Eleonore Tchakarova was also a hard luck loser both in singles and doubles competition. Tchakarova and her partner, sister Verginie Tchakarova, fell at No. 1 doubles 6-4. Though Eleonore was up early in the first set at No. 3 singles, she fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Megan Blue and Carla Suga were deadlocked 4-4 against Skylar Kuykendall and Liza Tymchenko at No. 3 doubles, but the match went unfinished after the doubles point had been decided. Both Blue and Suga then lost their singles matches at fourth and second flights respectively.
Verginie Tchakarova and Erin Patton both saw their singles matches go unfinished. Both were competitive with Tchakarova ahead 3-2 and Patton down 2-1 before the matches were called.
MSU will stay in Memphis for a neutral site match with Chattanooga. The Mocs were ranked as high as #67 last year and defeated the Racers in their first match since 2007
