Elkin Departs – Champs To See New Leadership

Murray State Director of Athletics, Allen Ward, has announced that the head women's tennis coach Olga Elkin has resigned to take the same position at Bowling Green.
During her two-year tenure at Murray State, Elkin led the Racers to an NCAA Tournament appearance and an OVC regular-season and conference championship. She leaves Murray with an overall career record of 27-15 (.643) and an OVC mark of 17-3 (.850).
Statement from Director of Athletics Allen Ward
I'm appreciative of what Coach Elkin accomplished at Murray State, but at the same time disappointed in the timing of this announcement. We're the defending conference champions and have practically everyone returning. My number one concern is this group of outstanding young ladies and making sure they don't miss a beat as they defend their OVC championship.
Considering tomorrow is the first day of class, it's my goal to name an interim coach as soon as possible. I'm going to provide every opportunity for this team to quickly put this matter behind them and focus on making the upcoming season just as memorable as the last one. This team is resilient and we're going to be just fine.
