Besselsen and Lorenz Earn Weekly OVC Honors

For the first time this season, Murray State's Kristen Besselsen and Ellie Lorenz have been named Ohio Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
Voting for the OVC awards is by the league's sports information directors.
The Racers played three matches last week, finishing the ISTAP Tournament 3-0. They defeated Southern University (3-0), South Carolina State (3-0), and Alabama State (3-1).
Besselsen, a redshirt sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., recorded 3.10 kills per set and hit .373. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the ISTAP Tournament. In the win over Alabama State, she recoded a double-double with 14 kills and a career-high 15 digs. Besselsen also tied her career high three service aces versus South Carolina State.
Lorenz, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., led the Racers with 45 digs over 10 sets. She recorded a pair of double-digit dig outings. She recorded 18 digs versus Southern and 19 against Alabama State. Against South Carolina State, she finished with eight digs.
The Racers will travel to the Liberty Invitational this weekend where they will face Liberty, USC Upstate and Howard.Â
